1.
What design philosophy do you adhere to in your furniture creations both domestically and internationally?
I have been studying and working in the field of home product design for over a decade. What has kept me going all these years is my passion for furniture and home products. "Design following nature" is my summary of my design philosophy. In terms of craftsmanship, materials, and the thinking behind them, I draw more inspiration from the"nature".
2.
As a designer of home products and conceptual art, what ideas do you use when designing pet furniture?
I try many conceptual and artistic works in my creations, but as a product designer, the starting point of thinking may differ from that of an extreme artist. I always believe that good products should have artistic elements but also practicality, not just for appreciation. So for the pet furniture, I hope the product has a unique and artistic form while also serving the real user - the pet - in terms of size, structure, and usage.
3.
How did the 10 works in the Origin Collection come into being?
These 10 works revolve around the daily life of pets, such as eating, sleeping, playing, and hanging out, just like the basic needs of humans. They were designed for real life. During the process, we drew inspiration from natural forms such as terraces and mushrooms and integrated them into the product. Therefore, the birth and ideas of this series are centered on the fusion of the pet's lifestyle and natural ecology.
4.
As both a cat owner and a designer, what changes do you think pets can bring to home space design?
I have two cats myself, and I have bought many pet products for them, but most mainstream products tend to be more "childish." In daily life, one can feel the quality of home products, while there is still a lot of room for improvement in pet products. In cooperation with KAMA MUTA this time, I hope that the products designed can better integrate into the home atmosphere, making each product a part of the living space. More natural and organic forms are integrated into the design, making the space more vibrant and versatile. At the same time, the materials are selected according to the standards and materials of human home products, achieving a qualitative change in quality.
5.
Can you share your idea of a harmonious human-pet home space?
In my mind, a harmonious human-pet home space is a relaxed and comfortable state for both humans, pets, and nature as well as the overall space. As a member of the family, living habits of both humans and pets in the home space should be taken into cosideration, where there is both interaction and personal space. The product should not only blend in without being conspicuous but also not disrupt the atmosphere. It should be both an art piece and highly practical.
